I love the crunchy chicken skin and brown sugar pan sauce that comes out of this.
Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken Thighs Ingredients
8 each bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
teaspoon dried oregano
teaspoon dried thyme
teaspoon dried basil
How to Make Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken Thighs
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken, skin-side down, and sear until brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove chicken to a plate.
Melt remaining butter in the skillet. Add garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar, honey, oregano, thyme, and basil until well combined. Return chicken to the skillet.
Bake in the preheated oven until chicken is no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, 25 to 30 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken Thighs Reviews
FABULOUS The sauce is seriously incredible, I ended up doubling it after I tasted it. I didnt have chicken thighs so I used chicken breasts cut into thirds. Delicious
I just made this and it was extraordinary. Very good flavor, so sweet, crunchy skin. My husband said he thought hed keep me another three months for this dish because it was extraordinary....lolThe juice was so good, I kept it I dont know how Im going to use it yet, but Ill think of something.Dont be afraid to try it Its like gourmet, thats for sureHave someone over for dinner and make this. They will rave about it
This chicken dish was fantastic, its a nice addition to our other favorite chicken recipes. Very quick to prepare, maybe 45 mins. We made only one change, the recipe called for dry herbs and we used fresh from our garden but kept to the specific herbs listed, a great blend Delicious, you must try this . Served with a spicy herb rice and garden green beans.
This was super easy and delicious I used my cast iron skillet so that I could put it right from the stove top to the oven. I didnt put the honey and the brown sugar on until the last five minutes so that the sugar wouldnt burn. It came out perfectly
I didnt end up with a sauce. It was burned sugar pieces swimming in oil. Wont make this again.
This was my second time making it and Children loved it and theyre very picky eaters First time i followed all the ingredients as shown but the second time I took out the minced garlic and just used garlic powder and I also just used Italian seasoning which was better to me. Chicken was so juicy and flavorful. I will be making again and again
OH MYY GOODNESS This was delicious. My ENTIRE family loved it including my picky 5 year old.Thank you for this delicious new recipe for my household
My family thought it was good. Ill make this again
Chicken was moist but really wasnt as special as In thought it would be according to the reviews. Easy dish to prepare.
I followed the recipe exactly, it was very juicy and tasty. Its a great dinner party main course because it is seared and then finished in the oven...leaves time for preparing the sides and setting the table.I used legs, wings and back chicken pieces as well, not just the thighs and they were all cooked evenly.
My husband refuses to eat chicken thighs and garlic, I made this on a night he planned to eat frozen pizza- he couldnt resist the delicious aroma and took a taste, HE LOVED IT Instead of baking this in the over I put the cast iron pan in my preheated grill- came out perfect. Added this to my favorites
I did a double try at this recipe. The brown sugar makes it entirely too sweet for my taste. Personally I needed a contrast of flavors. Added a little lemon juice, kept the honey and it was phenomenal . The brown sugar was just overwhelming.
Added 1tbsp dijon mustard, and used vodka to deglaze pan. Sauce was a little dry so I added chicken stock.
I used Boneless Skinless thighs. I still browned them a little before putting them in the oven. Came out delicious The glaze is not too sweet and the chicken cooked perfectly. Definitely will be making this again
Super good We made it in a cast-iron pan with boneless thighs and it was juicy and super flavorful then we made gravy out of the sauce and it was amazing but you do need to clean the pan right after so the sauce doesnt get stuck. Would make again.
I made this for a friend of mine and her family last week since she had just recently had knee surgery. She messaged me the following day and said that I was officially cooking dinner at their house from now on, it was a big hit I havent tried it myself yet but look forward to soon. Only changes I made was the use of fresh herbs from my garden instead of dried herbs and cooked the meat and sauce on a stove top pan and transferred to a glass dish for oven cooking time. Served it with herbed rice as someone else suggested.
Very moist and juicy. When I combined the brown sugar with the spices, after cooking garlic with butter, I thought it will too thick to be a sauce. After baking it, it had a lot of sauce. I bought a 10lb bag of chicken leg quarters, I cut off the drumsticks. Being that it was too much to hold in one pot, I cooked and baked both parts separately. Me, my wife and son really enjoy the garlic-brown sugar chicken thigh recipe. Very easy to make, must do it again. BTW, I love Allrecipes.com, no need for a cookbook, the site gives tons of ideas of what to make for a meal
Ouch... so yummy... smells really good. I added potatoe. For me, I Put the honey and brown sugar in the end because I dont want to burn it. I would like to make it again
We enjoyed this but I think it could use a tad more flavor. Some changes I made based on previous reviews: I kept the chicken on the stove top and just covered it instead of putting it in the oven to prevent any burning. Worked well. I will try this recipe again but I am going to add diced onion when I had the garlic and celery (and maybe red bell pepper slivers) sauted in towards the end. Overall, worth a try
WOW, this chicken recipe is amazing. The best chicken Ive eaten in forever. Id recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Ive been wanting to make this dish for awhile and Im so happy that I made it tonight. After reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to make the sauce at the beginning as I was using my cast iron skillet. What I did instead was to cook the thighs about 3/4 of the way through. I took them out of the oven and set them aside. Then I proceeded making the sauce in the skillet; putting the thighs back in the oven for about 5 more mins. PERFECT Next time, Ill double the sauce.
This is easy and delicious My kids and husband (who judge every meal harshly as if Im a chef) fought over the last pieces and sauce I used skinless, boneless breasts because thats what I had defrosted. Im sure the crispy skin would be even better. They loved it Thank you
This recipe was a home run. Had company over, they could not stop talking about the chicken.
Delicious, I used chicken breasts, will need to cut cooking time down.
Didnt bother to sear because I dont eat the skin anyhow. Followed the recipe but added 1/2 cup chicken broth and cooked in the InstantPot. (didnt want to use the oven on 95 deg. day) . Came out juicy and tender and delicious. Probably want to thicken the gravy with corn starch or reduce with heat.
Kinda a swing and a miss. did 25 minutes on quartered chicken breasts - cooked well but the sauce wasnt great.
The sauce was delicious Chicken was tender and moist.
I love this recipe. I will be using this recipe many times. It is not limited to chicken. It will be good on pork as well. Very good taste. Cant go wrong with this recipe. Try it. You will fall in love with this recipe and its potential for other proteins.
This was great It will definitely go in the rotation. Very easy and DELICIOUS
This chicken was easy to fix and it taste was amazing
A little too sweet for our tastes. Used chicken breasts cut to thigh size. I baked for a shorter length of time but they were still a little on the dry side. Would probably have been better with thighs.
Great dish I did double the sauce portion like one reviewer suggested because we love sauce Great recipe that can easily be added to with heat, or other local flavors and preferences. Thank you for your recipe
It was awesome, I made it with rice on the side. I might try it with the rice in it.
It was very tasty. I didnt change anything in the recipe. I will make it again.
My husband and I loved the chicken - but the sauce was hard- thick and could not be poured over the chicken. It was like toffee stuck to the pan. It took forever to soak-then boil before the pan was clean. I must have done something wrong The chicken was delicious even without adding sauce
Super yummy and super easy
Delish and easy to make
I absolutely loved this recipe. It was just as delicious as it looked. I did it a while ago but forgot to put it up. I would totally recommend making this. It was scrumptious
Followed the recipe with one deviation....a pinch of red pepper flakes. A little heat never hurt anyone
The family loved it. Will make again.
No changes DELICIOUS
Super quick and easy to make that packs a big punch of flavor. Will keep making this one
This recipe was so easy to prepare and so delicious. I used 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs because that is what I had on hand and they turned out beautifully. I did not make any other changes to the recipe. I will definitely make this again.
This turned out tender and sweet. Made gravy from the drippings in the pan and poured it over the chicken. Absolutely Delicious
The brown sugar/garlic/herb combo intrigued me, so I tried it. I was glad I did, because it was delicious. I used 1/2 thighs and 1/2 breasts & probably doubled the sauce recipe. It resulted in kind of a crispy sweet buttery garlicky glaze that was really tasty. And surprisingly easy to accomplish.
I made this for my family. Although I enjoyed the chicken, my family was not in love with the recipe. We have made similar recipes that they have loved much more. Always worth a try to find a new recipe to satisfy the family. This one just wasnt the one.
I made this recipe as written. This dish was easy to make and delicious. I definitely will make this again.
Fantastic, loved it Tastes really good. Very easy and quick to make . I made it with thighs and drumsticks.
Tasted sooo good
Loved it My mother cant have salt, so Im always looking for dishes that I can omit the salt from and still have flavor. This is perfect
I probably used more fresh garlic than is in the recipe, but it wasnt overwhelming. The chicken was amazing Tender, sweet, savory, and overall excellent. Will make again and again.
Made this recipe exactly as written except I only had 6 thighs. My husband and my 4 year old loved it. Served it with sugar snap peas tossed in the sauce and tiny boiled potatoes. Making it again tonight because anything my kid will eat, Ill make over and over again.
The soy sauce overwhelmed all the other flavors. I will try it again and cut the soy sauce waaay down.
Oh goodness, was this ever so good. I did use breasts instead of thighs because thats what I had on hand but other than that I prepared this exactly as written. My husbands only criticism was that it needed more sauce for the chicken to bake in, but please would I make it again. Thank you for an easy, wonderfully delicious dish
Great - Whole family (including the I-dont-like-chicken son) loved it. Recommend you give this one a try
It was actually really good I used casserole dishes as I dont have an oven safe pan. But it turned out so good
Loved the crispy skin We are not fans of dark meat but thought we would try this and it is now going to be in my favorites.
Im sorry I made this Brown sugar-garlic chicken. Im real glad I didnt serve it to guests..... just family. It was sweet, real, real sweet Not something youd expect for a chicken dinner. Honey & brown sugar should have given me a hint ... I tried adding Dijon mustard at last minute to save it from being inedible.... didnt work.
Amazing
IT WAS VERY TASTEY. I HAD TO ADJUST A LITTLE, BUT NOT BECAUSE OF THE RECIPE, BUT AT THE TIME I ONLY HAD BONELESS THIGHS, SO HAD TO CUT TIME CONSIDERABLY. THOUGHT THE FLAVOR WAS GOOD AND IT WAS VERY EASY. LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING IT AGAIN WITH SOME ADDED FLAVORS.
Came out good but not with crispy skin as it stuck on the pot bottom. Will skewer the chicken to help get the surface flavor throughout. Overall good and will make again.
Bake at 375 F (190 C) and do not reduce the amount of sauce even when making this recipe with less than eight thighs. The sauce is likely to burn, leaving a mess that could ruin a pan and deprive the diners of a delicious sauce.
Super quick and easy to make that packs a big punch of flavor. Will keep making this one
Excellent Reduced the amount of brown sugar, otherwise did exactly as stated. Will make again
Delicious
This was so easy, fast & delicious My picky eaters (husband & teenage son) both loved this. I doubled the sauce as recommended by others & spooned it over the chicken when plating. I could only find a packet of 6 thighs & it was perfect. My trusty Matfer Bourgeat black steel skillet was the perfect pan. It was a hurried weeknight & I was needing to get food on the table quickly & served with packet of Uncle Bens ready coconut rice & green peas - they were great sides with this. This would be great with pork loin/chops or even duck, if you can get it The sauce is seriously delicious
This recipe was a hit with the family. The only thing I changed was I used the boneless thighs instead and served it over pasta. Cooked up the same and I will definitely make it again.
This was SO tasty The skin crisped perfectly. We will definitely have this again soon
Its very good. Like other reviewers, Id double the sauce ingredients and add honey as a final step. And took way more than 3 minutes per side to crisp the thighs in a very good cast iron pan.A keeper
This was easy and delicious. I cooked it in the air fryer and it was so good.
I browned in a pan then transferred into a larger baking dish due to 10 thighs, thus perhaps didnt get the full flavor of a smaller batch - but nonetheless it was delicious and well received by the family
Made as instructed. Waaaay too sweet. Prefer more savory with olive oil, rosemary, marjoram or thyme salt and pepper etc. Will not make again.
This recipe was so delicious and very easy to make. It turned out great and have already shared the recipe with 4 friends who also loved it
This was so delicious. I doubled the sauce and had to use Italian seasoning in place of all the seasonings since I didnt have basil. This will be added to our menu regularly.
This was awesome I fixed in a cast iron skillet and the only changes I made was doubling the sauce and adding a few hearty shakes of hot sauce to off set some of the sweetness. YUM
The family loved it I used this on salmon and thighs and it was delicious. The recipe is very versatile and can be used a more than just thighs. I did not change one thing on this recipe and my boys even the picky one ate 3 helpings of meat. Try it...you will love it.
